Iframe Method for Facebook Like

So, I tested with the Iframe method too. It is actually the most easiest way to insert Facebook like to your blogger post. I am still using the FBML version though.
Here is how you do it.
For Blogger/Blogspot

  1. Go to Layout (Design) > Edit HTML and check “Expand Widget Templates”.
  2. Find <data:post.body/> and Below the line add the following codes.
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != &quot;static_page&quot;'> <iframe allowTransparency='true' expr:src='&quot;http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=&quot; + data:post.url + &quot;&amp;send=false&amp;layout=button_count&amp;show_faces=false&amp;width=90&amp;action=like&amp;font=arial&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=21&quot;' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' style='border:none; overflow:hidden; width:90px; height:21px;'/> </b:if>

The blue coloured ones can be changed according to the your needs. Or got to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ and customize your Button.
See related post : http://likeweb.blogspot.com/2011/10/finally-i-got-facebook-like-button.html

Test the FBML and IFrame version, and share which one works best with you.

Finally, I got the Facebook Like Button. WoHoo!

After two days(now its way faster than that) of searching and testing I got it. Finally I got the facebook like button to work properly on my blog. Here's how I did it.

First Goto to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ . Here you will get the required code to insert the like button.
Select the required options as you want, the most important is the URL to Like. It is where you set the post or website which you want to link like button.

For now just type anything there (need to be changed if for blog posts). In Layout Style if you just need a small like box then choose the "button_count".
In the width option, if you chose "button_count" then 150 will just be enough for you. Enter 450 if you want a bit detailed view.

Show Faces shows the Profile Picture of the one who liked the page.

After you click on Get Code a pop-up box will appear showing you the code.

Select XFBML for now and I guide you to rest.
I tried with the other methods HTML5 and IFRAME, the result was not like as I wanted so I chose XFBML.
Choose XFBML for now.
  1.  First you have to do is copy the code in second box. You don't need to copy all, just copy the xmlns:fb="http://ogp.me/ns/fb#"
  2. Now Go to  Blogger and Overview(Dashboard)> Template> Edit HTML. Tick the "Expand Widget Template". You can backup the Code in Notepad if any error occurs.
  3. Find your <HTML ...tag. copy the above code and paste before the ">" of the HTML tag.
  4. Now Find <data:post.body/>Then right below the line paste the code from the First Box(above image).
  5. Then paste another code from the third box(above image) , to the another line below.
    Important:
Now change the code of third box href='post.url' to expr:href='data:post.url'. This gives the link of the post you are currently viewing.

You like button must be up and running after this. Do ask if any questions.
Click here for The iframe method.

Convert your documents (pdf, doc, txt and more) to your Language

Google docs is a great application, you already know that. There are numerous features available on Google Docs. For starters if you haven't noticed the small 'Translate Document' from the 'Tools' menu, this is the right place to know. You can translate files like pdf, doc, txt, html, xls, docx.

You can translate you documents in two ways :
1. Google Translate
The link translate a document can translate you documents fast and easy.

2. Google Docs
So there is Google translate to translate your documents but why use Google Docs? If you just want to translate you document then Google Translate will suffice, but with google docs you can edit your documents. The ability to edit pdf files is the most exciting because there aren't much of free and easy to use pdf editors out there. To edit your pdf files you first need to upload them and convert them to google docs. You can do it as
Select a pdf file to convert  > Actions > Made a google docs copy.

After you have made a copy then click on it. You will be taken to editing mode for that document. From the page in menus >Tools>Translate document. Then choose your language to translate the document into.
You can create a copy of the translated document, download to you computer.

Now Turn to HTML5- web experience and Gaming

I just upgraded my firefox to 4.0. After installation on the start up page there was something flashy icon which brought me to this link https://demos.mozilla.org/en-US/?WT.mc_id=s4&WT.mc_ev=click

Ahh! more flashy inside. :)
I remember those days when I was kid and used to go cyber to play the miniclip games. It had most of the best flash games at that time. Small flash games would load in an instant, then the bigger ones lagged or took long times to open. Still there are many flash games available on the web.

So those things on the flashy website are made by HTML5, which I exactly don't know what it means but are great. No need to to install additional softwares like for the flash you need to download a flash player.

This website only requires you to have HTML5 supported web browser(new versions of Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, IE9). The best part is you can even run it on your mobile phones. Why it is that a best part? That means you can even play HTML5 games built for mobile phones. Anyway the performance in the HTML5 website directly depends on the browser you are using and having a better GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) also helps.

Think flash is still better ? Think again after viewing this website http://html5games.com/

Get to know HTML 5 better:

Meanwhile, Firefox 4 rocks. Mmm and Opera super rocks(hope \/,)

In Facebook - Not Friends or Blocked? Not a big deal!

You have been having some creepy guys out there stalking at you. So you blocked them from your Facebook friends list; you get relaxed then. But by passing days you may find out that they are still watching you. Here's how people actually stalk on facebook.

Handling blocks(or not friends): Just search the name of the person you want to view and click on it. You will be taken to his profile and see his status updates, photos and other stuffs. BUT, If he has perked with the security settings and stoped unknown peoples from viewing his post then you won't be able to see his status updates.

Handling blocks(blocked from post): A friend has blocked you from their posts? No worries, you can still find out what they've been up to. Type their name in the search bar and click on See more Results for X. Check out the list of events and wall posts and photo comments under Posts by Friends. If you want more, go for View All Posts by Friends.

Photos: To view a photo album put up by somebody who is not on your friend list, find a friend of theirs who allows public viewing of their wall. Now, amongst all their news feeds, you'll see: X commented on Y's photo. Click on the photo, and just keep clicking next. *Wink Wink* you just saw their entire album without actually being friends.

The Last Resort: Make a new facebook account and fake him/her as friend, send friend request and wait till he accepts. Rest you know.

YourVersion - Discovering your Interests

http://www.yourversion.com/
A collator of personalized web content. YourVersion is supposedly "the best\t way to discover new and relevant content tailored to your interests". Searching everything from videos to blogs, Tweets to websites, and products to news, YourVersion can be your daily source of customized content. Called a "Real-time Discovery Engine" bye the company. YourVersion gives you real-time results/updates not based on your specific interests. It is also significantly different from an RSS reader because it does not rely on your subscriptions to display content, but instead, compiles content real-time based on your interests.

YourVersion has a simple and uncluttered interface. Simply feed in your "interests" when signing up (you can add/delete new interests at any time). and find your real-time listings of the latest relevant content that is filtered by one or all interests. Have a slow Internet connection? Then click on "Condensed View" for an even simpler text-based listing interface.

You can bookmark interesting content on the site itself, and return to it simply and easily, whenever you want. You can also allow the site to auto-organise pages by interest. Sharing is especially easy on YourVersion, allowing for facebook, Twitter, and email-based sharing options, right on the listing page itself. You can also give a thumb rating to each article/piece of content.

Other interesting application of YourVersion are the iPhone app and mobile site, as well as the easy-to use firefox toolbar. For sign-up you can also do it with your Twitter accout.

The site was launched in September 2009 and has won numerous awards at prestigious events.

Facebook New Design Rolls Out

There had been plenty of groups and fan pages in facebook supporting one goal "changing the theme of facebook". Not quite as expected but still worthy facebook new design has rolled out for limited users as it will be later supplied to all.

Facebook has been testing out the new profile design for the past five months but for the first time ever, they have released the new full site design.

The first noticeable change is a complete removal of the left-hand sidebar. Instead all of the links have been moved to a wider sidebar on the right hand side which appears to be double the size of the original. The applications have been moved to two different locations in the header and to the right hand sidebar.

There is a new drop-down menu in which users can view all of their applications. It’s not that great though if you have hundreds of applications installed as it takes a fair amount of time to browse through the applications.

The top of the newsfeed now displays links to the publisher box on the new profile. This enables quick access for posting new notes, new photos, new videos and sharing links with your friends.

There is now a new friends page. While it is not substantially different the friend lists have been moved from the right hand side to the left hand side. The width has also been expanded to accommodate the new site design.
As for the limited users only, I have not got to use this new facebook in my username but in my friends id it works. And the simple and innovative design is cleaner and much simplified with added features. In coming days facebook will be providing this service to more users (probably all) hopefully please mine be faster.

Making your own Mobile Page - TagTag,com

Ever tried building a WAP site for yourself? The best place to make those swanky little sites that load off mobile phones, of the type you've always wanted to make, is at TagTag.com.

A name synonymous with WAP sites, TagTag.com is the one-stop shop for all your WAP site building needs. An online, java based WAP site builder can be accessed from the site.

Once you've created an account, you can browse through all the WAP sites hosted at TagTag.com. You can visit your WAP site at http://tagtag.com/[username]. IT is then tagged under a specification such as "games" or "Personal pages" or you get to choose from 21 other categories.

The WAP site maker has a simple graphical interface like the type you see when composing an e-mail: it lets you change the background image and colors on the site. You can add hyperlinks and images, and make an unlimited number of pages, too. There's no need to learn to code in WAP, WML or XHTML. Each WAP site is alloted 1 MB of Web space, which should allow you to host approximately 30 full ringtones, for instance.

TagTag.com offers a free WAP emulation browser called TTemulator, which can be used from a PC to access WAP sites. THis application can be added to pages of other Web sites too.

The site also offers a lot of free content- a collection of games, wallpapers, and ringtones - from its PC-based web sites.

If you have made any 'made for mobile' websites then do show it to us. If impressive I will showcase it here.

Grooveshark.com - Listen to Free Music!

http://www.grooveshark.comLately I landed into this superb website for listening to free Music. Sorry to be late, as it had been into the web since couple of years.

* Grooveshark is used for searching, streaming, and uploading music free of charge.
* The iTunes like interface makes it eye-candy and also easy to use.
* There is a huge database of songs in its collection. Like 7 millions and increasing!
* Users can upload their own library of music.
* Users can save their favorite songs, albums and playlists and access them from any PC on the web.
* Users can view the libraries, favorites and playlists of other users.
* The site offers one-click widgets for embedding a song, album or playlist to Twitter, Facebook or StumbleUpon. So sharing with friends is really easy.
* Unlike other music applications it recommends songs based on the similarities in people’s profiles and favorites.
* The process of streaming could not be easier: you simply browse to the site, enter a term in the prominent search bar which takes centre-stage, and press play. Albums or individual songs can be listened to; some albums have limited content, but some well-known ‘records’ are represented accurately.
* If you wanna download a song then you need to pay about $0.99 per song.
* Registration is free and is not required to listen to music on the site. Registration is required to save songs, albums and playlists and to save favorites or embed widgets to Twitter, Facebook or StumbleUpon.

Making your URL Short

Do you have problem typing or memorizing long URLs(Uniform Resource Locator; ie, http://likeweb.blogspot.com) then there are some websites that can help you shorten them. Here are two of them that I think are most widely used.

1. Tinyurl
http://tinyurl.com
Its the one from the past. It had been used enormously and still used. But now a days even the tinyurl is gettng hard to get because of its complexity. 'http://tinyurl.com/yzez6et', this is what it makes of http://likeweb.blogspot.com.

2. Alturl
http://alturl.com
I like this one to tinyurl. 'http://alturl.com/fkwm', this is what it makes of http://likeweb.blogspot.com That's why Alturl is better than tinyurl (see the difference?). However shortening the url is not just it. It has 'preview transition' and 'traffic counter'. The preview transition shows what the short url directs to. Then the traffic counter shows how many viewers has passed through the short url.

Download Youtube Videos without any software!

http://www.pwnyoutube.com
This website must have been there for long time, I don't know. The question is how didn't I know it before. I recently got this website or a tool to download youtube videos with no hassle to install the softwares nor copy/paste.

First you goto the youtube website or search youtube video. Then select the video you want to download and just add 'pwn' before 'youtube.com' to make it 'pwntube.com' in the address bar of your web browser. Then it takes you to the pwnyoutube website where you can download the video either on .flv(low quality) or .mp4(high quality) format. It's simply as that.
Try it out yourself!

No such things as 'deleted' on the internet: Research

Try this: Take a photo and upload it to Facebook, then after a day or so, note what the URL to the picture is (the actual photo, not the page on which the photo resides), and then delete it. Come back a month later and see if the link works. Chances are: It will.

The research done by the Cambridge University's guys have found that everything the user deletes is actually not deleted(however it stops showing on your gallery). Not only Facebook but nearly half the social networking websites don't immediately delete any files that are requested to be deleted by the user. Any way Flicker is said to do a better job on deleting the pictures faster.

So why is the deleted photos stick on so long? The problem is the way data is stored on large websites. ie, Our PC keeps only keeps one copy of a file, but the large scale services rely on what are called content delivery networks to manage data and distribution. In this system the content is copied to multiple intermediate devices, usually to speed up the access to files when millions of peoples are trying to access simultaneously. But because changes aren't reflected across the system immediately, ghost copies of files tend to linger for days or weeks.

In the case of Facebook, the company says data may hang around until the URL in question is reused, which is usually "after a short period of time." Though obviously that time can vary considerably.

Of course, once a photo escapes from the walled garden of a social network like Facebook, the chances of deleting it permanently fall even further. Google's caching system is remarkably efficient at archiving copies of web content, long after it's removed from the web. Anyone who's ever used Google Image Search can likely tell you a story about clicking on a thumbnail image, only to find that the image has been deleted from the website in question -- yet the thumbnail remains on Google for months. And then there are services like the Wayback Machine, which copy entire websites for posterity, archiving data and pictures forever.

How do you feel that?? Do think twice when uploading your wacky pictures(only if).

Omegle; You: "Hey There, Stranger!"

Check this out, an experimental website Omegle.

What is Omegle?
It is a chat room but not any ordinary one you find. Here the one who you chat with is not chosen by you, instead you chat with an anonymous user. When connected to the site, you're randomly matched with another individual and placed in a chat room, identified as stranger. You can disconnect at any time you like, and unless you swap details yourself, the conversation remains totally anonymous. The pretty simple site with amazing concept is gaining height in the world of social networking.

The site was created by 18-year old Leif K-Brooks of Brattleboro, Vermont, US and was launched on March 25th, 2009.

I tried it and found it really kills your boredom. What else, you can laugh out at times too. Say hi the 'stranger' replies 'hi' (may be). Keep silence until the 'stranger' breaks it (Don't take too much time nor the 'stranger' might disconnect). For me the first try today, the first two peoples said "I am really horny" and got the hell out on my response. Later the chat with some 'stranger' got quite well along.

Anyway a great new website to kill your boredom (i guess). But the guy who made this is really getting something out of it.
Know what the founder says...

Top 3 Website Statistics Trackers

For making a successful blog or website you need to know where the visitors are coming from and what people do when they visit your blog or website. Here are the 3 top website statistics trackers.

1. Googleanalytics
http://www.googleanalytics.com/
Google Analytics is considered one of the most comprehensive website tracking tools. Reports are available to the most minute detail and, users can set up custom reports, which comes in handy for bloggers who like to track specific advertising campaigns. You can even know what version of flash they are using. Browser and OS identification are common ones. Google Analytics is available for free but provides reports only upto 5 million pageviews a month. Thats more than enough for small companies and individuals. The unlimited version is available for the Adwords users. Plus if you don't want your visitiors to know that they are being tracked then this is one with no advertisements.

2. StatCounter

http://www.statcounter.com/
Well must say the 2nd top website statistics tracker, this ones why I don't know is keeping its user intact. It is available for both free and paid users. For free users there is a limit of 100 visitors. Yes they keep the details of last 100 visitors only. (Google google!) Upgrading to 1000 pageloads costs $9/month, 10,000 pageloads is $19/month, and 25,000 pageloads is $29/month. Do you understand?? (I think I don't. Please let me do) An additional detail to add: they don't have report for bounce rate. Expensive though useful I guess.

3. Sitemeter
http://www.sitemeter.com/
Actually I have seen more SiteMeters than StatCounters: must have been the visibility difference in them. Sitemeter is preety easy website statistics tracker to use. One of the unique aspects of SiteMeter is the Traffic Estimator which looks at your historical site traffic and will give you expected traffic estimates for the coming hour, day, week and month. It's fun to see bigger numbers sometimes.

The interface: Thats superbly bad. No eye candy stuffs. Just plain.(Simple interface, sophosticated technology, thats what the chrome says) Though basic stuffs on the free version but has quite a good things on the paid version. The first is an invisible counter. In addition, it will tell you which search engines bring you the most visits and the most page views. It will also list the exact phrases that were typed into the search engines to find you. This kind of information is especially valuable if your are counting on getting a lot of your traffic through the search engines. See the difference between free and paid version and evaluate for yourself.
