*Color Combination
Well the most important thing to make your web page look attractive is the use of colors. So there are every persons using the colors in their web page whether it be just black or the multiple colors. But what makes an webpage look attractive is the use of color, the perfect use of colors and their combination.
Choosing an color must be an easy task. You can choose a color like the one you like the most. For me the color is blue. So after choosing the color you would also like to use the colors which suits your color. Like an example here which doesn't suits.
And here's the one which will suit.
From the second picture i show a good use of colours, rather than the ugly looking first picture. Though you must have got an idea how must it look and keep, thats the main thing.
*Graphics
Well after the color here comes one most important part of a web page. With having an web page looking attractive, graphics does really play an important role.
What I say is, have the graphics that suits your color combination, exceptions with the wallpaper galleries. Like if you have an logo then, it would be better to go with the background of the web page. Let the color of the logo be like one of your colors and the background be like the background of the web page, you won't like seeing a rectangle on your logo, do you?
However, make sure that your web page load time is fast.
*Easy Navigation
When you get to join the web pages with many contents on it then make sure a user will have an easy navigation. Navigation of links on your site plays a big role in determining the stickiness of your site (how long your visitor stays and explores your site). Ask yourself this, What do visitors do as soon as they open your site? They would probably read the content of the present page and then look around to find any other page that interests them.

*Layout and Design
A clean layout with good use of white spaces enhances the look of your web page / site. Use the fonts which are available in all the computers. Like the glittering or spooky fonts may not be available on all the computers. Arial, verdana are much more better. You can also take help from other website templates. A site that is easy-to-use always encourages visitors to stay and read your content. For site with long pages of content this is very crucial as the amount of scrolling required is reduced. Suppose your site doesn't look good for a particular resolution it is very probable that the visitor will close the browser window feeling that the web page is not for their viewing. Designing stretch layouts that fit any screen resolution ensures that you know all your visitors see a visually appealing and professional site.
*Cross Browser Compatible
Make sure you check your site for Internet Explorer 5+, Mozilla Firefox 1.0, Opera 7.0 and Netscape Navigator 6+ as they constitute 95% of the worlds browsers. The design you see on one browser may be different with the other browser. The Cross Browser Compatibility would be an added feature of your website.
*Cross Monitor Compatible
You must have known what it is. Make sure your website is stable or looks still fine and attractive with different monitors. Check between the B/W monitors and colored monitors, and also with other varieties of monitors than the colors.
